hi, i've been lurking hear for awhile and just registered this week.

you're an interesting bunch and i look forward to getting to know you better.. i started studying with the jw's when i was 16. i was dating my husband, 10yrs my senior, and he heard they had the truth.

i was in an abusive household, so i moved in with him, studied, got married at 17 and baptised at 18.. i believed in it hook, line and sinker for 22 yrs.

Welcome to the forum!!! We are so glad you decided to post. Sounds like you are going through alot!!

This may seem like a odd question, but it can be relavent.....

Have you learned about 607 yet? If you have, then you already know it is not factual and cannot be supported without JW literaure. I was able to get my husband out by having him try and prove to me 607 was factual, but I asked him to prove it to me without using any of the Societies literature. When he realized he couldn't he too wanted to know why. It was pandoras box for him as well. Remember, the 607 date is the very foundation of the organization. Without it everything else crumbles. The truth is not the truth unless it is 100% factual. After a very short time researching this date, one will soon see we were being lied to.

Anyhow...it helped me, and maybe it will help you. Here is my story and what happened and how I went about helping my husband while he was trying to "help me".

Milestone: Went to Church last Sunday for the very first time......

dear friends,.

well, after 4 years of being out of the borg, i decided to take the plunge and i went to "church" with my sister.

it was a wonderful experience, and i will definately be returning.

I know it is huge!!! I guess after the last session is over the poor speaker doesn't have much of a voice left. They would like to build a BIGGER facility to hold more people at a time. I guess they own some other land, but since the economy is the way it is they are waiting as they figure the project to run somewhere around 40 MILLION dollars!! WOW..hugh...!?!?

What is the mission of those on this board?

venting, closure, confession, social networking, advocating a new direction, building a case to leave the borg, kicking a dead horse, assisting the abused, warning the public, cursing god and religion, justifying actions, filling time, belonging to something, education, identifying mental disorders, condemning hypocracy, highlighting errors of the past, making fun of other people, self pity, hope for recovery???.

as a newby, i can't tell ....

It has been ever evolving for me.

First it was a place of confirmation that I wasn't crazy, as I learned most here had discovered the same thing as I had regarding the organization.

Then it became a place of incredible resources, as many who left did intense research and lovingly posted their findings with scans of actual documents.

Then as with most who leave it was a place to share my fears my frustrations and my anger.

Now 4 years later it is a place for me to come to chat with old friends, and to help newbies like yourself come to a place of peace as so many of us here have found.

It took a long time to go through all the emotional phases, and that is why you probaly see so many different types of people here. They are in different palces in their exit.

My personal mission is to try and help as many people that want to be helped to find out the truth about the "truth".

"Do not be afraid of the Babylonian officials," he said. "Settle down in the land and serve the king of Babylon, and it will go well with you."

Sorry I should have included a few previous verses that would have been more helpful. Here they are:

26 Nebuzaradan the commander took them all and brought them to the king of Babylon at Riblah. 27 There at Riblah, in the land of Hamath, the king had them executed.
So Judah went into captivity, away from her land. 28 This is the number of the people Nebuchadnezzar carried into exile:
in the seventh year, 3,023 Jews;

29 in Nebuchadnezzar's eighteenth year,
832 people from Jerusalem;

30 in his twenty-third year,
745 Jews taken into exile by Nebuzaradan
the commander of the imperial guard.
There were 4,600 people in all.

Check out Jeremiah 52:30 in the New World Translation, it says:29 In the eighteenth year of Neb·u·chad·rez´zar, from Jerusalem there were eight hundred and thirty-two souls.30 In the twenty-third year of Neb·u·chad·rez´zar, Neb·u´zar·ad´an the chief of the bodyguard took Jews into exile, seven hundred and forty-five souls.All the souls were four thousand and six hundred. It was in Nebuchadnezzars 18th reignal year that he burned down Jerusalem. According to the Society, he took everyone then and there, and it was totally desolate!

How then is Nebuchadnezzar still taking people a total of 4,600 to be exact, from a place that is supposed to be uninhabited??? I was just shocked.. this scripture just finally sunk in when my Mom was sharing it with me today!! You don't even have to get into the whole date part, to show a JW that the whole "desolate for 70 years" had to have meant something else, like say, 70 years of SERVITUDE!

Anyhow, Just thought I'd share what was shared with me!!
